My Psalm 23 Prayer
The LORD is my Shepherd; I shall try not to want differently than He has allotted me. But trust my Lord and King and God as I seek to imitate Jesus. For all is satisfied in Him. I have no need to want. Help me to recognize when You have laid me down in green pastures; open my eyes to see the green grass and grant me right desires. Pay attention, O my soul, to the still waters He leads me beside, and take full advantage. O LORD, restore and refresh my soul today. Lead me in the path of righteousness and make sure I follow, for Your name’s sake. No matter what I walk through, whether challenging or hard or the valley of the shadow of death, I will trust You my Shepherd and shall not fear because You are WITH me. I will cling to Your hand in the dark and the hard. Trusting that Your rod will protect me, and Your staff will keep me from going astray. And that brings me great comfort. I have nothing to fear from my enemies, because if You are preparing me a table before them, then they are already defeated. O let me feast at Your banquet with peace of heart and mind and not worry. Help me receive the blessing of You anointing my head with oil. Your LOVE fills me to bursting and my cup runs over; overflowing with all Your goodness to me. Let the only thing that fills my cup be You, so that You are the only thing that sloshes out and overflows onto others. Thank You that Your goodness and Your mercy hunt me down, track me, and follow me, all the days of my life. No matter where I go, I cannot escape Your goodness or Your mercy. I choose You Jesus, that I may dwell in the house of the LORD forever! Amen.
Psalm 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.
